Alvarez’s 4 TDs leads Memorial past Sunnyside

Quarterback Michael Alvarez accounted for four touchdowns in leading his San Joaquin Memorial Panthers to a 28-20 win over Sunnyside on Friday.

Alvarez used both his arm and his feet, as he rushed for a pair of touchdowns and passed for two others.

He finished the night 13-for-23 for 194 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, plus he rushed 11 times for 29 yards and two touchdowns.

Receiver Chris Paz and Gabriel Gavia both has big nights for the Panthers. Paz caught three passes for 92 yards and a touchdown and Gavia hauled in seven receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Sunnyside quarterback Nate Hughes also came through with a big performance, as he completed 28-of-51 passes for 304 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, plus he rushed for another score.

Jesus Castaneda led the Wildcats with eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.
