Arrona rushes for 250, as Kennedy outlasts Shafter

Kennedy outlasted Shafter in a shootout, as the teams combined for nearly 100 points in the Thunderbirds’ 54-40 home win on Friday.

The Thunderbirds outscored the Generals, 21-7, in the second quarter, which proved to be just enough separation to hold on for the win.

Kennedy running back Rolando Arrona rushed 31 times for 259 yards and three touchdowns, including scoring runs of 47 and 81 yards.

Thunderbird quarterback Felipe Sandoval completed 6-of-14 passes for 153 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions, plus he rushed for two more touchdowns.

Josh Lee led Kennedy with three receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Shafter quarterback Garrett Bloemhof went 12-for-24 for 189 yards, a touchdown and an interception, plus he rushed 10 times for 60 yards and a touchdown.
