Bakersfield airs it out against Stockdale

Bakersfield went to the air with nearly 400 passing yards to defeat Stockdale, 49-28, on Friday.

Driller quarterbacks Caden Ochoa and Cameron Williams combined for 397 yards and four touchdowns.

Ochoa went 5-for-8 for 204 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Williams was 6-for-11 for 193 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the victory.

A trio of Driller targets received for more than 100 yards. Justin McGill caught five passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns, Tahj Wright hauled in three passes for 124 yards and a touchdown and Jones had three receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Jones displayed his versatility. In the first quarter, he put the Drillers on the board with a highlight reel 54-yard punt return for a touchdown and added a nine-yard touchdown run by the end of the opening frame. In the second quarter, he caught his 88-yard touchdown pass from Williams.

On the other side of the field, Elisha Ortiz had a shined for Stockdale. The senior running back carried the ball 21 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns, plus he returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.

Stockdale quarterback Jalen Smith went 16-for-25 yards for 164 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.
