Bakersfield two-way star Bruce picks up first offer

Marcus-Bruce-Bakersfield-

Bakersfield’s gritty two-way leader Marcus Bruce picked up his first offer this week from Sacramento State.

Bruce has been a full-time starter on the Bakersfield defense at linebacker since his sophomore year and this year he’s carried a large portion of the rushing load also.

Although he’s starred for one of the top programs in the state for the past three years, Bruce did not hold an offer until the Hornets came forward this week.

“It was honestly indescribable,” Bruce said. “It was just amazing knowing that I didn’t have to put up my pads after this year and I get to keep doing what I love the most.”

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Bruce currently leads the Drillers in both rushing and tackles.

The second-ranked Drillers are currently 5-1 and host Frontier tonight at Griffith Field.
