Brooks twins combine for 400 yards in shootout

Twin brothers Seth and Emmett Brooks combined for more than 400 yards of total offense, as Kingsburg outlast Independence in a 60-40 first round shootout on Friday.

Seth led all rushers with 15 carries for 177 yards and three touchdowns plus he added three catches for 52 yards and another score.

His brother Emmett was the top receiver in the game with six catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. Plus on the defensive side, he intercepted a pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown in the game.

The Vikings jumped out to an early 21-0 lead and the teams exchanged touchdowns from there out but the Falcons couldn’t ever close that gap.

In addition to the Brooks’ heroics, Kingsburg quarterback Josh Sierra accounted for four touchdowns in the game.

The senior quarterback completed 17-of-32 passes for 332 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, plus he rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Independence quarterback Jordan Wiley was also involved in four touchdowns in the game. Wiley completed 18-of-34 passes for 231 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions, plus he rushed for 90 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.

Fred Weaver was the Falcons’ top receiver with seven catches for 116 yards.

The Vikings will move on to face Dinuba in the second round of the Division II Valley Playoffs.
