Buchanan knocks off CW, Friesen accounts for 3 TDs

Buchanan quarterback Josh Friesen only had 114 yards of total offense, but he came through when it counted as he accounted for three touchdowns in the Bears’ 28-14 win over Clovis West on Friday.

Friesen completed 8-of-14 passes for 139 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, to go with seven carries for -25 yards and another touchdown on the ground.

Buchanan running back Chibuikem Dunu got the scoring started with 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Friesen’s three touchdowns extended the lead to 28-0 in the third quarter. Clovis West added a pair of late touchdowns, both on runs by Adrian Martinez, but the Bears came away with the victory.

Mitchell Souza caught both of Friesen’s touchdown passes, but Blake Wells was his leading receiver with three catches for 93 yards.

Martinez went 23-for-43 for 269 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, plus he rushed 19 times for 91 yards and the two touchdowns.
