Bullard holds on for narrow victory over Buchanan

Bullard held on for a 21-16 win after watching Buchanan fight its way back into the contest on Friday at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium in Clovis.

The Knights came out of the gates strong with a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.

First Sidney Washington scored on a two-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Jack Taylor added a pair of touchdown passes to Charles Williams and Markelle Raymond.

But Buchanan slowly chipped away at it and a three-yard touchdown pass from Josh Friesen to Ezra Owens cut the lead to five points in the fourth quarter.

But the Knights prevailed to go to 2-0 on the season, while Buchanan evened up at 1-1.

Williams rushed for an even 100 yards on 26 carries in the victory.
