Bullpups’ Hughes out but may return

Hanford’s standout senior Juju Hughes broke his arm last Friday vs. Porterville and but there is a very strong possibility he’ll make a late-season return to the team.

The talented Bullpup, who contributes on offense, defense and special teams, spoke to a specialist on Monday and he will be out 6-8 weeks.

Which means, depending on how fast the bone heals and how far the team goes, he could be back for the playoffs. And if the Bullpups return to defend their Division III Valley Championship, he would be back in the lineup for the title defense.

“Yes I’d definitely be cleared by then,” Hughes said.

However there was no comment either way if there is a possibility he would be cleared for the Milk Can Game, which is six weeks away.

Four games into the 2015 season, Hughes leads the Bullpups with 19 receptions for 323 yards and four touchdowns, plus another rushing touchdown. Defensively, he’s recorded 14 tackles and picked off one pass, broke up two passes and forced two fumbles. He also averages 26.7 yards per kickoff return.
