Carr wins first game as a pro

Bakersfield Christian and Fresno State great Derek Carr picked up his first win as a profession in his Oakland Raiders’ 24-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday in Oakland.

The Raiders came into the game with an 0-10 record on the season.

Carr went 18-for-35 for 174 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in the victory.

The Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter, but the Chiefs came back to take a 20-17 lead on a 25-yard field goal by Cairo Santos with 9:03 remaining in the game.

But Carr engineered a 17-play, seven-minute drive that he capped off with a nine-yard touchdown pass to James Jones with 1:42 remaining for a 24-20 lead.

The Oakland defense held on to give the Raiders their first win of the game.
