Chowchilla’s Gutierrez, Stewart combine for 5 TDs

Alex Gutierrez and Anthony Stewart combined for five touchdowns in Chowchilla’s 51-28 home-opening win over Madera South on Friday.

Gutierrez scored the first two touchdowns of the game and later added a 37-yard touchdown run, to give him three touchdowns—all on the ground.

Stewart caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Selby and scored on an eight-yard run also. He also returned a kickoff 90 yards for another score, but it was called back for a holding penalty. He also had a pair of runs for successful two-point conversions.

Danny Chavez and Damon Perry each scored rushing touchdowns for the Redskins.

Madera South quarterback Jonah Johnson rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Ivan Hernandez also scored on a three-yard run for the Stallions.
