Coalinga shocks Dos Palos on the road

If you hadn’t heard the name Cameron Ribeiro before, you’re probably not the only one. But he may have officially became the least welcome person in Dos Palos city limits.

The senior tight end had only caught eight passes all season for a total of 170 yards and one touchdown. On Friday night, he had what has to be considered the best game of his career, when he hauled in three touchdown passes. And the Horned Toads knocked off Dos Palos, 49-22, to eliminate the Broncos from the playoffs.

Ribeiro may henceforth be referred to by the Bronco faithful similarly to how Red Sox fans refer to Bucky Dent and Aaron Boone.

Coalinga’s Brian Alvarado had two touchdown runs and a touchdown pass in the win. Also scoring for the Horned Toads were Coti Seese and Sabino Molina.

For Dos Palos, Jerry Warren scored twice on touchdown passes from Ryan Yriate and Jake Shelly also caught a touchdown pass from Yriate.

Coalinga, which was 1-9 last season, will play at Washington Union for the Division IV Valley Championship.
