Cocklin shines in FCC victory over COS

Chandler-Cocklin-Dinuba-956

Dinuba grad Chandler Cocklin shined for Fresno City College, as defense and special teams proved pivotal in the Rams’ 49-17 win over rival College of the Sequoias on Saturday.

Cocklin led the Rams with 12 tackles from his linebacker position, but his biggest play was pass he intercepted and returned 54 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Earlier in the quarter, Mitch Brumfield returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown for the Rams.

Despite the lopsided outcome, COS outgained FCC, 433-184, but turnovers and giving up big plays on special teams did the Giants in.

Clovis North grad Christian Rossi was effective when called up for the Rams, as he completed 14-of-19 passes for 184 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.

Porterville grad and COS quarterback Brian Chester went 33-for-50 for 433 yards, but threw two touchdown passes to three interceptions in the loss. The run game was virtual non-existent for the Giants, as they gained 33 yards on 22 attempts.

Fresno finished the regular season with a 6-4 record, while Sequoias dropped to 4-6.
