COS comeback comes up short, despite Alvarez’s 500 yards

Redwood graduate Raul Alvarez passed for more than 500 yards, but the College of the Sequoias’ comeback bid came up just short, as they fell 45-41 at Feather River on Saturday.

Alvarez completed 36-of-60 passes for 544 yards and four touchdowns, but also threw four interceptions in the contest.

Both defenses struggled to get stops in the game, as COS gained 645 yards of total offense and Feather River gained 625 yards.

Feather River running back Tonio Burton rushed for 279 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries and teammate Nigel Dillard added 102 yards on 12 carries.

Edison graduates Yasmon Haynes and Hezekiah Hamilton each recorded a sack for the Giant defense. Ronald Laforce led the unit in tackles with 11 and forced a fumble in the game.
