Davis powers McLane past Orange Cove

Just when it appeared Orange Cove was about to creep back into the game, McLane’s Ronald Davis went to work, scoring three unanswered touchdowns, in the Highlanders’ 36-9 road win on Thursday.

McLane took a 14-0 lead on a pair of Brandon Moua touchdown passes for Kenny Elder and Bobby Wiley. But Orange Cove’s Luis Vansquez cut that to 14-9 by kicking a 28-yard field goal and catching a 38-yard touchdown pass from Rolando Ramirez.

Ronald Davis had enough of that and rushed for three touchdowns, to close out the 36-9 win.

Davis ended with 153 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries.

Moua completed 10-of-19 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Mikequan Jones led the Highlander receivers with 89 receiving yards on two catches.

Ramirez went 10-of-17 on the night for 166 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jose Sanchez led the Titan receivers with five catches for 50 yards and Vasquez had five receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
