Douglas shines in BC regular season finale

Frontier graduate Triton Douglas had gone four games without a triple-digit rushing performance, but he broke out of that streak in Bakersfield College’s 25-19 win over Ventura on Saturday.

Douglas led all rushers with 26 carries for 124 yards and two touchdown in the Renegades’ regular season finale.

In a back-and-forth game, the Renegades pulled away for good on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Tarek Yaeggie to Khalin Smith with 6:49 remaining in the game.

Yaeggie struggled in the contest, completing 10-of-17 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw three interceptions.

Former Bakersfield High standout lineman-turned tight end Dillon Littles was his top receiver with two catches for 46 yards.

Fellow former Driller Derrick Vickers was the ‘Gades’ second leading rusher with six carries for 61 yards.

Centennial graduate Gabe Artega had memorable night for the BC defense, recording 13 tackles, two sacks and 4 ½ tackles for a loss.

The Renegades finished the regular season with a 6-4 record.
