Farmersville gets up big early, cruises past Laton

Farmersville quarterback Sam Metcalf threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another, all in the first half, as the Aztecs cruised to a 50-8 home win over Laton on Friday.

The win puts Farmersville in the Division VI Valley Championship Game for the third straight year.

Metcalf ended the game with 8-of-16 completions for 182 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, plus the one rushing touchdown.

Anthony Acevdeo led the Aztecs with 19 carries for 111 yards. Jose Cisneros added 44 yards on two carries, including a 43-yard touchdown run.

Jose Solis had a total of three touchdowns for the Aztecs, as he caught four passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns, plus he had a one-yard touchdown run.

Joseph Delacruz had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown to go with his two catches for 71 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Farmersville, which lost the previous two Valley Championship games to Mendota, will now move on host Strathmore for the Division VI Valley Championship next Friday.
