Farmersville wide receiver Joseph De La Cruz was named the Editor’s Choice Player of the Week, sponsored by BLACK LIVING WATER, for Week 2 of the 2014 season.

De La Cruz caught nine passes for 276 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-21 win over Woodlake on Friday. His production helped teammate Sam Metcalf set the CIF Central Section career passing record, which now stands at 9,411 yards.

De La Cruz is only allowed to win Player of the Week (either People’s or Editor’s Choice) once during the 2014 season. A team is only allowed one player to win the award during a calendar month. Farmersville will be eligible to have a candidate for Player of the Week again in October.
