Fresno State offers Garces RB Croney

Sheldon-Croney-Garces-5598Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter personally extended an offer to Garces running back Sheldon Croney this weekend.

While Croney was attending Fresno State Junior Day, DeRuyter directly approached him to offer him face-to-face, which left an impression.

“I feel blessed to receive an offer from Fresno State,” Croney said. “I was excited to sit down with head coach DeRuyter and talk about the Bulldogs’ program and my future.”

Croney, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound back for the Rams, offers a nice combination of power and speed and will be a senior this coming season.

As a junior Croney rushed for 2,377 yards and 28 touchdowns, while leading the Rams to an appearance in the Division II Valley Championship game. The year before he helped his team win the Division II Valley Champion, while rushing for 1,433 yards and 25 touchdowns on the season.

Croney currently already holds offers from Boise State, Colorado State, Idaho and Nevada.
