Garces puts in strong defensive effort vs. Foothill

The defense led the way and the offense followed in Garces’ 31-3 win over Foothill on Friday in Bakersfield.

The Trojans could only manage 238 yards of total offense against the Rams.

“That is probably the best defensive performance we have had all year long. I am really proud of the kids on both sides of the ball,” Garces head coach John Roberts told the Bakersfield Californian. “The kids played hard. Foothill is a very competitive football team. It was really good to see our defense step up and play. It really gives up momentum going into the rest of the season.”

Foothill was still in the contest at halftime, trailing only 10-3, but the Rams scored 21 unanswered points in the second half.

Garces quarterback Philip Anspach rushed for 136 yards and passed for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
