Greenberry finishes off Houston’s bowl comeback

Washington Union graduate Deontay Greenberry capped off the University of Houston’s improbably fourth-quarter comeback in the Armed Forces Bowl with the game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion on Friday.

Houston trailed Pitt, 24-6 entering the fourth quarter, which the Panthers extended to a 31-6 lead just a minute into the final quarter. The Cougars cut the lead to 31-13, but would trail 34-13 with four minutes remaining in the game.

Greenberry caught his first touchdown pass on an eight-yard completion from Greg Ward, Jr., to cut the deficit to 34-20 with 3:41 remaining in the game.

The Cougars recovered the ensuing onside conversion and went down and scored on 29-yard touchdown pass from Ward to Demarcus Ayers, to bring the score to 34-27 with 1:43 remaining.

Houston recovered another onside kick with led to another scoring drive featuring Greenberry’s second touchdown catch of the game.

Greenberry then caught the two-point conversion to give with the Cougars a 35-34 lead, which held for a Houston victory.

Greenberry finished the game with four receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
