How league races are boiling down

With the season winding down, we know some league champions will be crowned this week. Plus there some others that have a good chance of be decided. Here is a look at what would have to happen for the league title this week and possible fallout situations.

There may be more possible scenarios, but this covers the majority of possible outcomes.

North Yosemite

If Hoover beats McLane this week, it is the NYL champion.

But if Madera South beats Fresno this week AND McLane next week AND Hoover loses its remaining two games, then Madera South is league champion. If McLane beats Hoover AND Madera South AND Hoover loses to Reedley next week, then McLane is the league champion.

TRAC

To lock up the league title this week, Clovis West needs to take care of business against a tough Central team and have Clovis lose to Clovis North.

If Clovis and Clovis West win, next week’s meeting between the two will for the league title. Central can win the title if they beat Clovis West this week and Clovis East next week AND Clovis loses one game in the next two weeks.

CMAC

For the league title to be decided this week, Sunnyside would have to beat Sanger AND San Joaquin Memorial beats Bullard.

Edison, Memorial and Bullard are all tied with a 2-1 league record and have to win out to even have a chance. The loser of the Memorial/Bullard game will be eliminated from the equation. Sunnyside has already beat Edison and Memorial, so if the Wildcats win this week, those two are eliminated. So if Bullard and Sunnyside both win, next week’s meeting between the two will be for the league title.

West Yosemite

El Diamante can win the league title with a win this week against Lemoore.

But if El Diamante loses both of its remaining games AND both Mt. Whitney and Redwood win this week, then the Mt. Whitney vs. Redwood meeting in Week 10 will be for the league championship.

East Yosemite
If Porterville wins this week against Delano, it will clinch the league title.

But if Porterville loses its remaining two games AND Tulare and Tulare Western both win this week, then the Week 10 meeting between the two will be the league championship game.

Southeast Yosemite

If Garces wins this week against East Bakersfield AND North loses this week to Foothill, then Garces is the league champion.

But if Garces wins AND North wins this week, then next week’s meeting between the two will be for the league title. But if East Bakersfield beats Garces this week AND Garces beats North this week, then East Bakersfield wins the league title.

Southwest Yosemite

If Centennial wins this week against Liberty-Bakersfield, the Golden Hawks will clinch the league title.

But if Centennial loses out AND Bakersfield beats Stockdale this week, then the Liberty/Bakersfield game in Week 10 will be for the league title.

South Yosemite

If Ridgeview beats Highland this week AND Golden Valley loses to South, then Ridgeview is the league champion.

But if Ridgeview wins and Golden Valley wins, then the Week 10 meeting between the two will be for the league title. If West beats Mira Monte this week AND Ridgview loses its next two games, West will win the title.

North Sequoia

The meeting this week between Yosemite and Washington Union WILL be for the league championship. Both are 3-0 in league play and the next closest teams all have two losses already.

Central Sequoia

If Exeter beats Coalinga this week, it is the league champion.

But if Exeter loses out AND Kingsburg beats Selma on Nov. 12, then Kingsburg wins the league title. If Coalinga beats Exeter AND Kingsburg loses to Selma, Coalinga is the league champion.

East Sequoia

If Lindsay beats Orosi this week, it will lock up the league title.

But if Lindsays loses to Orosi this week AND Strathmore next week AND both Corcoran and Woodlake win this week, then the winner of Corcoran vs. Woodlake is the league champion.

West Sierra

A league champion will not be decided this week.

Dos Palos and Firebaugh are 2-0 in league play. If they both win this week, their matchup against each other next week will be for the league title. If Mendota beats Firebaugh this week AND beats Tranquility next week AND Dos Palos loses both of its remaining games, Mendota is league champion. If Mendota beats Firebaugh AND Firebaugh beats Dos Palos the following week, then there is a three-way tie and I don’t know what the tie-breaker is.

South Sequoia

The winner of the Wasco at Tehachapi game will be the league champion.

East Sierra

If Farmersville beats Laton AND McFarland loses to Orange Cove, Farmersville will win the league title.

But if (I hope you’re sitting down) Farmersville loses out AND Coast beats Orange Cove on Nov. 12, Coast wins the league title. If Farmersville loses out AND Orange Cove wins out (McFarland and Coast remaining), Orange Cove is the league champion. If Farmersville beats Laton this week AND loses to McFarland next week AND McFarland beats Orange Cove this week AND Coast loses one of its two games, McFarland is league champion. If McFarland wins out AND Farmersville beats Laton AND Coast beats Orange Cove, then there will be a three-way tie.

West Sequoia

The league champion will not be crowned this week.

If both Fowler and Caruthers win this week, the meeting between the two next week will be for the league title. If Riverdale beats Fowler AND Parlier AND Fowler beats Caruthers next week AND Caruthers loses to Fresno Christian, Riverdale will be the league champion. If Riverdale wins out AND Caruthers beats Fresno Christian AND Fowler beats Caruthers, then there will be a three-way tie.
