King’s rushing performance leads Edison past Bakersfield

Edison running back Jaylan King went over the century mark on the ground in leading the Tigers to a 16-6 win over Bakersfield in the first round of the Division I Playoffs.

King led all rushers in the game with 127 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.

Edison took an early 7-0 lead in the contest on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Gerard Mendez to Jimmy Gray in the first quarter.

That lead would last until the fourth quarter, when BHS quarterback KeAyr Gragg cut the deficit to one point with a three-yard touchdown run.

But King’s touchdown would give Edison the lead and a safety later in the quarter would give a little cushion.

Edison moves on to face No. 1 Clovis next week.
