Lake, Fraser shine in Clovis’ OT win

Clovis quarterback Trey Lake threw three touchdown passes, two of which to Tyson Frazier, in the Cougars’ 34-28 overtime win over Turlock on Friday.

Lake went 23-for-40 for 345 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the out-of-section road victory.

Fraser was his primary target of the night, catching 14 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns. Lake’s other touchdown pass was an 11-yard strike to Clayton Alexander.

Clovis held a 28-14 lead going into the fourth quarter, but Turlock scored a pair of touchdowns in the final frame to force overtime. Cougar running back Nash Vidmar’s five-yard touchdown run in overtime proved to be the difference.

Danny Velasquez led the Turlock offensive attack with 26 carries for 127 yards and a touchdown.
