Mariscal scores 3 TDs, Liberty cruises past Stockdale

Liberty-Bakersield’s Anthony Mariscal scored three touchdowns to lead the seventh-ranked Patriots to a 49-21 win over Stockdale on Friday.

Mariscal led the Patriots in rushing with nine carries for 121 yards and two touchdowns, plus he also returned a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.

The second quarter proved to be the difference maker.

The game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Patriots scored four touchdowns—including two from Mariscal—to just one from Stockdale and the Patriots took a 35-14 lead into halftime.

Stockdale wasn’t able recover from that deficit.

In addition to Mariscal’s performance, quarterback Jordan Love was a dual threat for the Patriots.

Love completed 6-of-8 passes for 154 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, plus he rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.

Braylin Scott led the Patriots with two catches for 64 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown reception.

Kenny Torrence led Stockdale with 19 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown in the contest.
