Mathews leads Chargers in rushing vs. Eagles

Former West High and Fresno State great Ryan Mathews had a team-high 73 yards for the Chargers, but it was his quarterback’s big day that guided the Bolts to a 33-30 road win over Philadelphia.

On the opposite sideline, Hoover graduate and Eagle linebacker Mychal Kendricks recorded eight tackles in the contest.

Mathews rushed 16 times for 73 yards and no touchdowns, to lead all San Diego rushers.

However quarterback Philip Rivers truly starred for the Charger offense, as he completed 36-of-47 passes for 419 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Chargers’ 20-10 lead in the third quarter was the only double-digit lead in the game.

The Bolts ultimately won the game on a 46-yard field goal by Nick Novak with seven seconds remaining in the game.
