McDaniel leads Hanford rushing attack in win over El D

No. 5 Hanford remained unbeated on the season, thanks in large part to a balanced rushing attack in the Bullpups’ 42-21 win at home over No. 23 El Diamante on Friday.

Joseph McDaniel led the ‘Pups with 18 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Juwuane Hughes added three carries for 64 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Ryan Johnson rushed six times for 53 yards.

Johnson also completed 11-of-16 passes for 96 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

El Diamante was hanging tight and was tied 14-14 in the second quarter, but the Bullpups outscored them 28-7 the rest of the way.

El Diamante quarterback J.C. Robles completed 22-of-38 passes for 238 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Mikkel Smith-Lee was the Miners’ top receiver with seven catches for 97 yards and a touchdown, plus he threw a 34-yard touchdown pass.

Kruz Bass added five catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
