Medrano carries Strathmore to season finale victory

Juan Medrano carried an incomprehensible load for Strathmore, but ultimately it came down to the points after touchdowns on Friday at Lindsay.

Medrano rushed 37 times for 165 yards and a touchdown in the Spartans’ 14-12 victory.

Strathmore quarterback Julio Arellano also rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

Jacob Hernandez carried the ball 20 times for 93 for two touchdowns in the contest. After his first touchdown, the Cardinals missed the kick after.

In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals had a chance to tie on Hernandez’s second touchdown, but the Spartans shut down the run on the two-point conversion.

The Cardinals had to win to earn a spot for the playoffs.
