Mendota cruises past Sierra in Mejia’s return

Marquez Navarro scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Mendota to a 42-6 win over Sierra on Friday in Beto Mejia’s first game back as the Aztecs’ head coach.

Navarro led all rushers with 11 carries for 158 yards and the two touchdowns.

Christian Quintanar, Fernando Mojarro and David Barrajas each added a rushing touchdown in the game for the Aztecs.

Mendota quarterback Junior Cardenas 8-for-15 for 112 yards, no interceptions and a 50-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hernandez.

Sierra running back Dakota Torres led the Chieftains with nine carries for 79 yards and their lone touchdown.
