Moya unstoppable in Ridgeview win over BHS

Jamar-Moya-Ridgeview-4529

Ridgeview’s Jamar Moya came just two yards short of 200 yards from scrimmage in his Wolf Pack’s 27-10 win over the vaunted Bakersfield Drillers on Friday at historic Griffith Field.

Moya carried the ball 19 times for 164 yards and two touchdowns, plus his only catch was a 34-yard touchdown pass from Lawrence White.

Ridgeview jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Bakersfield worked itself back into the game and cut the deficit to just 14-10 in the third quarter.

However Moya’s two touchdown runs came in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Ridgeview head coach Dennis Manning was highly complimentary of his opponent’s effort on the night.

“That’s a good (Bakersfield) team over there,” Manning told the Bakersfield Californian. “They played really good defense and it was a struggle for our offensive for a while. But we held on and that’s what championship teams do.”

Ridgeview kept its record perfect at 5-0, while Bakersfield dropped to 2-3 on the season.
