Mt. Whitney quarterback Jordan Brooks connected with Nate Aleman for a 39-yard, game-winning touchdown pass, as their Pioneers upset No. 15 El Diamante, 28-22, on Friday in Visalia.

Brooks went 11-for-21 for 155 yards, a touchdown and an interception, plus he rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter.

The game-winner was Aleman’s only catch of the night.

Brooks’ touchdown run was the first score of the game, but El Diamante scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a 19-7 lead into halftime.

The Pioneers would not lead again until Brooks connected with Aleman.
