No. 14 Tulare Western prevails in 2nd half vs. Monache

No. 14 Tulare Western pounded its way to a 38-17 win over Monache on Thursday, with the Mustangs recording four touchdowns runs of six yards or less.

Juan Flores led the way for the Mustangs with a pair of six-yard touchdown runs in the final quarter to put the game out of reach.

Corey Juarez also had a one-yard touchdown for Tulare Western in the contest.

Mustang quarterback Kobe Portillo threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Casey Bernardo, as well as punching in his own one-yard touchdown.

The game was tied 17-17 at half, but the Mustangs outscored the Marauders 21-0 in the second half.

Monache scored their touchdowns on a 34-yard touchdown pass from Nisar Abdulla to Skyler Schrein and a 70-yard blocked punt returned by Brian Leypon.

Tulare moves to 6-3 on the season and 3-1 in league play, while Monache drops to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in league.
