Porchia carries MIssion Oak past Porterville

A highly anticipated Tulare County showdown turned into an Elijah Porchia showcase, as he rushed his Mission Oak Hawks to a 27-9 win on the road over Porterville on Thursday.

Porchia rushed for 240 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries.

The game was close early on, as Porterville matched Porchia’s first touchdown with a 39-yard touchdown pass from Dennis Chester to Lalo Nevarez, to end the first quarter tied 7-7.

However it was all Porchia and the Hawk defense from that point out.

The Porterville offense came in undefeated and averaging 56.6 points per game, but the Hawks limited the Panthers to just two points during the final three quarters.

Mission Oak also put itself firmly in the driver’s seat in the East Yosemite League championship picture.

The Hawks are now 6-0 overall and 1-0 in league play, while Porterville dropped to 5-1 overall and 0-1 against league foes.
