Roosevelt escapes with a 19-18 win over Reedley

Trailing 18-6, Roosevelt quarterback Tristian Hernandez threw two fourth quarter touchdown passes, as Rough Riders escaped with a 19-18 win over Reedley on Thursday at Sunnyside Stadium.

Hernandez first connected in the fourth quarter with Willie Fairman for a 34-yard touchdown to cut the Pirate lead to 18-13. Later he found Kurtis McCoy for a 20-yard touchdown pass, but the Rough Riders clung to just a 19-18 lead, which held for the win.

Earlier in the game Hernandez threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Ivan Martinez, to give him a total of three touchdown passes in the game.

Reedley scored its touchdowns on a pair of Daniel Del Muro touchdown runs of one and three yards.

Jose Rangel also kicked a pair of field goals for the Pirates in the loss.

Roosevelt improves to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in North Yosemite League action, while Reedley drops to 2-7 on the season and 2-2 in league.
