Ross throws 3 TDs, caps off 4th quarter comeback

Washington Union quarterback Ashanti Ross’ third touchdown pass of the evening capped off a fourth quarter comeback to give the Panthers a 31-28 win over Chavez to advance to the Division IV Valley Championship.

The Panthers trailed 28-17 going into the fourth quarter. However Washington Union’s Ricky Dow recovered a fumble and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown to pull within five (two-point conversion failed).

Washington Union took the lead for good when Ross connected with Noah Beukers for a 15-yard touchdown pass.

Ross went 15-for-22 in the game for 205 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

Chavez running back Damian Avila led the Titans with 26 carries for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Clemente Montes added 13 carries for 60 yards and one touchdown.

Washington Union advances to the Division IV Valley Championship and will host Chowchilla.
