Rossi throws 3 TD passes in Rams’ heartbreaking bowl loss

Fresno City College watched the ball sail over the uprights, dashing an emotional fourth quarter comeback in a 31-28 loss to Sierra in the State Center Bowl on Saturday in Fresno.

After trailing by two touchdowns entering the fourth quarter, the Rams came back to tie the game up with less than a minute. However Sierra kicker Matt Krieg booted a 35-yard field goal with time expiring to knock off the Rams.

Clovis North graduate Christian Rossi went 23-for-41 for 258 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the game.

His top receivers were James Whifield with seven catches for 89 yards, Dwine Walls with five catches for 73 yards and Kailon Carter with five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Also Rashaan Miller caught two passes for 17 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively Dinuba grad Chandler Cocklin led the Rams with 11 tackles in the game, 10 of which were solo tackles.

Ram linebacker Christopher Woolbright made five stops to go with an interception and a fumble recovery he returned 87 yards to set up an FCC touchdown in the fourth quarter.
