Rufus, Yates stand out for Nevada defense

Bakersfield grad Asauni Rufus and Edison grad Rykeem Yates each stood out for the Nevada defense in a 31-28 loss to Utah State on Saturday in Logan.

Rufus was the Wolf Pack’s leading tackler with 13 stops on the afternoon, plus he broke up a pass.

Yates recorded six tackles, plus he led the Pack with both two tackles for loss and a sack.

Clovis North grad Brock Carmen saw time in the game for Utah State, but did not record any statistics.

For the season, Rufus, a redshirt freshman, leads the Wolf Pack with 87 tackles, plus he has intercepted a pass, forced a fumble and broke up three passes. Yates has recorded 30 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks.
