Sanger continues momentum, throttles Madera

No. 10 Sanger dissected No. 16 Madera with a calculated, concerted team effort in the Apaches’ 38-0 shutout at Tom Flores Stadium.

Eight players carried the ball for the Apaches, led by Sawyer Pittman with 90 yards on five carries.

Both Kris Elizondo and Andrew Azua scored two rushing touchdowns in the victory.

Quarterback Travis Turner rushed for a 58-yard touchdown and threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Ray Aguirre.

The Apaches jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and methodically added to it until it took a 38-0 lead heading into the final quarter.

Taylor Brunolli led Madera with 13 carries for 75 yards and Christopher Chapa added nine carries for 50 yards.

Sanger is now 6-2 on the season and 3-0 in league play and appears to be in the driver’s seat for the CMAC Championship after upsetting then-No. 1 Edison.
