Sharp goes nuts, leads Wasco to league title-clinching win

Sophomore running back Isaiah Sharp is putting up insane numbers for Wasco this year and Friday was just the latest edition.

Sharp rushed for 423 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-28 win for the Tigers. The last two weeks Sharp has rushed for a combined 751 yards and eight touchdowns.

However it wasn’t a cake walk for Wasco against Arvin.

The Bears came ready to play and scored on its first three possessions and the Tigers didn’t take the lead until 4:16 remaining in the first half on a 63-yard touchdown run by Sharp, to make it 28-21.

“We knew it was going to be tough,” Wasco coach Russ Prado told the Bakersfield Californian. “Arvin is a tough ball club . They are very big up front and tough. They played a great game tonight but our boys were ready to rock and roll for four quarters. We knew this was going to be a four-quarter game.”

Wasco wore down the Bears and outscored them 28-7 from that point on.

As a team, the Tigers rushed for 640 yards.

The Tigers kept their perfect record in tact at 9-0 and clinched the South Sequoia League Championship.

Even in case of a loss next week against Shafter, the Tigers hold the tiebreaker of Bakersfield Christian and Chavez—the one-loss teams in the league.
