Sierra Pacific stomps Minarets for first victory in school history

In a night that was destined to be historical, Sierra Pacific laid a 31-6 beating on Minarets on Thursday in Hanford, in the battle of the two first varsity squads.

Sierra Pacific and Minarets are both playing their first season of varsity football in their schools’ histories and both were looking for their first win in program history.

The squads ended the first quarter scoreless, but the Golden Bears scored three touchdowns in the second, to take a 20-0 lead into halftime.

Sierra Pacific added on 11 more points, but the Mustangs could only manage six points the remainder of the contest.

Scoring touchdowns for Sierra Pacific were Trey Wharton, Enrique Jimenez and Trent Myers on a five-yard pass from Jonathan Gonzalez.
