Tafoya, Hodges named Week 4 Players of the Week

Tranquility quarterback Aaron Tafoya was named the People’s Choice Player of the Week, while Independence quarterback Preston Hodges took home the Editor’s Choice Player of the Week honors for Week 4.

Tafoya, only a freshman, has given the Tranquility offense new life since taking over the starting duties. In both of his two starts this season, the Tigers have scored more than 60 points. Last Friday against Riverdale, he rushed for two touchdowns and did not throw an interception, as his Tigers won 68-0.

Hodges had one of those performances that seems only possible on video games. The senior quarterback completed each of his first four passes for touchdowns and was pulled at halftime with the score out of hand. He ended the night going 4-of-5 passes for 175 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Falcons’ 42-21 win over Mira Monte.

Tafoya and Hodges are limited to being named Player of the Week once for the 2012 season (regardless whether it is People’s Choice or Editor’s Choice).

Neither Tranquility or Independence can have a Player of the Week for the remainder of the month of September.
