Temple powers Edison run game past Memorial

LaRue Temple and Jaylan King combined for 227 yards and two touchdowns in leading Edison to a 19-7 win over San Joaquin Memorial on Friday to open CMAC play.

Temple led the way with 185 yards on 21 carries, while King added five carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Gerard Mendez made his Edison debut by completing 15-of-22 passes for 214 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.

Damon Rogers was his top receiver with four catches for 71 yards.

Edison took a 12-0 lead into halftime, but the Panthers cut the deficit to five points with a 15-yard touchdown run by Joey Ruiz in the third quarter.

However King’s second touchdown run of the game sealed the victory for the Tigers.
