Valley alumni Carr, Pascoe kick off 2012 NFL season

Stockdale-graduate David Carr and Granite Hills-graduate Bear Pascoe help the NFL kickoff the 2012 season tonight at 5:30 p.m., as the New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at the New Meadowlands.

Both Carr and Pascoe and Fresno State alumni and play for the Giants and were members of the 2011 Super Bowl Champion team.

Carr was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, but has not started a regular season game since 2007, when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers. However in his backup quarterbacking duty during his three seasons with the Giants, Carr has completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 340 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Pascoe started 11 games at tight end each of the past two seasons. Last year he had a career-high 12 receptions for 136 yards.

The Giants swept both meetings between the squads last year.
