Wallace, Watts lead dominant Liberty run game in dramatic win

Liberty-Madera Ranchos running back tandem of Chad Wallace and Jackson Watts each went over 100 yards in the Hawks’ dramatic 40-37 win over Fowler on Friday.

Wallace led all rushers with 18 carries for 150 yards, followed by Jackson Watts with 15 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown.

While Watts and Wallace led the Hawks in yardage, quarterback Markie Brandt punched it in the red zone with three touchdown runs and ended the night with 10 carries for 61 yards. He also threw a touchdown pass and connected on a two-point conversion pass.

Kyle Higginbotham also added 16 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Hawks as a team rushed for 431 yards in the game.

However the Redcats controlled much of the first half.

Fowler took a 21-7 lead into halftime after quarterback Matt Kahaian threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Chris Silva and rushed for a pair of one-yard touchdown runs.

However Liberty-Madera Ranchos outscored Fowler 33-16 in the second half to take the win.

Kahaian went 11-for-20 for 217 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while completing passes to seven different receivers.

Izaiah Moreno led the Redcats with 19 carries for 96 yards and Hugo Mendez scored on an 89-yard kickoff return.
