Wright rushes for 2 TDs, Dinuba advances to semis

After going into halftime tied, Dinuba pulled away with a strong second half in the Emperors’ 34-13 second round win on Friday.

Senior running back Michael Wright led all rushers with 24 carries for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

Emperor quarterback Isaac Leppke was accurate when called upon, completing 8-of-13 passes for 139 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Tight end Emiliano Huerta caught four passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns for the Emperors.

The Vikings got on the board first with a one-yard touchdown run by Josh Sierra in the first quarter. But Dinuba outscored them 34-7 from that point on.

Sierra went 14-for-32 for 153 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the game.

Emmett Brooks led the Vikings with five catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Dinuba will move on to face Lemoore next week in the semifinals.
